Prez Sez - June 2011

The memorial service for Rick was held on June 2. Heartbeat Classic Chevy’s was represented by 17 of our members who were able to attend. We know many others would have liked to be there, but due to work or car problems were unable to attend. Rick’s brother, Jack, led the service. Rick’s children and grandchildren presented stories of his life. He was loved those who had met him. We all will miss him.
Elections are coming up soon, in August. We have two very important positions which will be vacant as of Sept. 1 – Secretary & Treasurer. In addition, it is always good to have 2 or more candidates running for all positions. Members can get their name on the ballot by calling any board member or me. Also, Cathy and Ron Lewis will be calling you to encourage you to run for an office.
Ballots will be e-mailed or snail mailed after the July meeting and must be returned by the August meeting. This year for the first time, votes can be made by e-mail if you choose to (c5cathy@cox.net). Remember, each membership is entitled to 2 votes. (Article 4A5 of by-laws)
The only awards that I am aware of this past month were won by Bob & Jane Powell in Santa Barbara & Mark Pilch in San Marcos.
The board is attempting to keep everyone informed of what is going on in the club, but it will be more challenging without the newsletter. Those with e-mail can check our web site http://heartbeatclassicchevys.com . We will try to keep all current information on that site. Event tidbits can be submitted to our webmaster: jlhernan@lycos.com, also any pictures.
The board would like more input from members.
One of the best ways to keep abreast of what is happening and to give input on what you would like the club to do is to attend the board’s monthly meeting. It is held on the 2nd Thursday of each month, except December, at Marie Callender’s Restaurant in Escondido at 6 PM. Please let me know if you plan to attend, for us to give the restaurant a headcount. Thank you.
